Who Needs Testosterone
The simple and most accurate answer to this is EVERYONE. The list of body functions that testosterone is critical to is quite long. This list includes: Bone density, energy, metabolism, heart health, brain function, concentration, mood, anxiety/depression, fat deposition, ligament and tendon health, and over all healing ability. While there are several other smaller factors that testosterone helps with these are the most notable.
Women
Women require testosterone to make sure that they will have strong bones and strong ligaments so that injury and fractures become significantly less common. Fractures of the lower spine and the femur can easily lead to blood clots and early death in women as well. Decreasing the fracture chance associated with osteoporosis and osteopenia is critical to not only quality of life but quantity of life in women. Muscle health and strength is not just for moving around and being active. The heart is a big muscle that has several ligaments and tendons associated with it, keeping the heart healthy is critical to women. Heart attacks in women are very common and are listed as the number 1 cause of death, for women, in the USA. In 2017 alone there were 299,578 deaths attributed to heart attacks and heart disease. That accounts for 1 in 5, 20%, of all deaths among women in the USA. Testosterone can also help to stabilize mood and decrease anxiety and depression. It is critical to quality of life to have all of the hormones in the body function at optimal levels. Lack of sleep is an epidemic in the developed world and finding a way to increase sleep quality is extremely important. Testosterone has been shown to significantly increase the sleep quality in both Men and Women.
** Women should not start and should discontinue testosterone use if they become pregnant.
Men
While osteoporosis is not as large of a problem for men bone density is also helped with testosterone. Muscle mass and ligament health are also greatly increased with proper testosterone use as well. However, some of the most important needs men face with low testosterone are often overlooked. Anxiety and depression are a significant problem with men and are very closely linked to low testosterone. Many young CEOs and men with high stress lives see a significant drop in testosterone as the body WILL NOT make the proper amount of testosterone while under stress. This can also lead to a significant drop in
energy that is seen as fatigue especially at the end of the day. We have spoken to many men that told us they did not have the energy to play with their children especially at the end of the day while they had low testosterone. Increased
weight from extra fat held on the body not only looks bad it produces its own hormones that can affect the body in a negative way. This weight also puts extra strain on the joints of the body causing pain and damage over time. One of the most interesting things that people we work with have told us is that they feel like they got a little spark or fire back inside themselves. When they are at the gym
and they dig down deep to get that last rep there is something there now. They feel like they got a little part of themselves back.
